When you think of traveling to India, Kerala is one of the best tourist destinations to start with. Recently, the National Geographic Traveler has chosen Kerala as one of the thirteen paradises in the world. In addition, this state of Wonderful India has many beautiful places, fantastic landscapes, and a quiet environment that has made it a tourist hub. Every year during the winter season, travelers from different parts of the world come here to enjoy the place. You will discover the green hill stations, waterfalls, many cultural festivals, delicious food, exciting boat races during your Kerala tour. In this post, I’m going to share my travel experience and the things you need to know before you Travel to Kerala in 2020.

Do you Know the Language Used In Kerala?

Kerala’s official language is “Malayalam.” However, don’t worry about the language, even if you don’t know Malayalam Words. Because English is widely spoken in Kerala and you can talk with the local citizens in English. This state in India has the highest literacy rate, and almost everyone can speak basic English. It’s not that hard for a traveler to manage to communicate in Kerala.

Besides this, many other languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and a few other local languages are used. Likewise, Malayalam is the primary language of Kerala, other languages are primarily used in other areas (States from which they originate). However, Hindi is most widely used in India and almost every state you can use Hindi because it is the national language of India.

When is the Best Time to Visit Kerala?

Undoubtedly, you can visit Kerala at any time of year, but the best time to visit Kerala is during the winter season (from November to February). In the summer that is after March, the temperature in Kerala is too hot and can make your journey unpleasant. Furthermore, the time from June to September is not suitable for journeys to Kerala due to heavy rainfall.

However, you can visit Kerala in those seasons if you want to stay for some time. Then there are many other things to explore in Kerala like the Ayurvedic retreat. The Ayurvedic retreats are offered at low prices in these seasons as there is less demand. One more advantage during the off-seasons is that you can get accommodations easily and comparatively at a lower price due to less number of visitors.

In peak seasons, especially in December and January, there are a huge number of Indian and foreign tourists visit Kerala. So the price for everything is comparatively higher and it might be difficult to get good accommodations.

Know the Food You can Have in Kerala

You will find a wide variety of food cooked with delicious Masala. One of my favorite dishes in breakfast in my last stay at Kerala was Masala Dosa, Coconut Chutney, and the Curry which they serve with it. There are many food options both for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. But some of the restaurants I found are pure vegetarian and the dishes they offer are super delicious. Some of the vegetarian dishes which I have tasted are Chapati with many types of veg curries, a variety of paneer dishes, parathas with different ingredients. You will find that they cook the food mainly in coconut oil which has a different taste, I really enjoyed the food in Kerala.

Kerala Trip is Within an Affordable Budget

From travel expenses to hotels, everything in Kerala is within an affordable budget. However, I could not bet on whether or not it is true for everyone, but this is one of the most precious places to travel within India for money. If you have a sense of responsibility for money management, you can enjoy your trip within a very limited budget.

The best way to manage your expenses is to plan a travel budget that will help you keep within a limit otherwise you may spend on unnecessary things. You can allocate some money for your accommodation, travel expenses and other expenses such as food, shopping, etc. One of the best ways to plan your travel budget is to know the costs of different things in Kerala online.

Conclusion

We feel fulfilled while traveling as it helps to connect with different people and to experience the world. When you travel to a place like Kerala, you will have a sense of inner peace and calmness that will make you feel blessed. Truly, if you’ve never traveled to Kerala, I personally recommend that you not only travel but stay and experience God’s own land.

As I have mentioned about the Ayurvedas retreat, don’t forget to take the benefit of a retreat and the Yoga classes that they offer. I hope this article will definitely help you plan your Kerala trip properly. In case you need more information, please drop your queries in the comments below.
