Finding Love (or Lust) In a Post Covid-19 World

by in Misc

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the world to come at a standstill. Shops close down. Businesses scale down. Life amidst COVID has people confined to their homes because of a fear of catching the new flu! But with vaccines becoming more and more available, it’s time to set our sights to the new normal… to a time when we can freely walk about without any worries, free to have fun, free to laugh, and free to love. For those of you who plan on getting a little action in bed or the romance department, read on for some tips on how to find love in a post-pandemic world.

Start with loving yourself

Rupaul said it best, “If you can’t love yourself, how the hell can you love someone else?” If you’re looking for the one, you should first be able to accept yourself, your shortcomings, your failures, and every little thing you hate with yourself. You don’t have to be a self-aggrandizing prick, but you should know you have faults, too. A good and healthy relationship starts with people that have a good and healthy self-image. This prevents toxic relationships from building up.

If you’re looking for lust though or love in a post pandemic, you can skip most of this but you should still have a bit of self-respect to avoid being a victim to crimes or hateful people. I understand that you might be looking for some fun after a bad break up, but you should take things slowly and surely to test the waters first.

Go out and have fun

If you believe you’re ready and you’ve prepared yourself to venture out into the wilderness to look for some love, then the best way to do so is to go out and have fun. While you might still need to wear a face mask here and there, you have to make yourself available by partying or going to places you love. People will generally be attracted to you if they see you in your best life. Plus, by doing so, you’d attract like minded people which will hopefully help you start a budding romance.

Online dating apps

Of course we can’t deny that dating can now be done online. A multitude of dating apps are now available to each and every kind of user like casual hookup dating apps or those looking for serious love. So if you’re tech savvy and you can project yourself best online, then by all means go for it! Make a stunning profile that will attract men, women, or both if that’s what you prefer.

A word of caution: please be honest. Be honest if you’re in an open relationship. Be honest with your looks. Be honest if you’re gay, too. Nobody will be willing to go out with you if you lie about any important part of your identity. Some casual hookups lie about their name and age, somehow that’s currently acceptable. But for the love of God, please don’t lie about your relationship status, your parental status, and anything that might constitute catfishing.

Also, remember to only use good websites, find the list of the best hookup sites.

Staying safe

If you’re lucky, going out or joining dating apps will get you a date. Congratulations! But before doing anything, be sure that you’re aware of all the safety checks when hooking up. This goes not just for women but any other person, too. Ask for an updated HIV result and COVID test result (if applicable) before engaging in bed. This might sound too tedious but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Maintaining a degree of respect

Now at this point, I’m assuming you’ve finally gotten yourself in a relationship (if that’s what you wanted). Whether or not you got into each other’s pants already, you must still maintain a few unspoken rules to make sure that your relationship remains healthy and can lead to something long term. Remember both of you are human and are bound to make mistakes here and there. So learn from each other and try to determine if his or her faults are something you are willing to live with for the rest of your life.

Wrapping it Up

Finding love in a post pandemic world is not the easiest thing to do. It might be hard to be intimate with someone, when you’ve just gotten out of a health crisis that crippled nations and almost stopped the world from turning. However, remember that it’s only impossible if you don’t try.
